LADY SAINTS WIN 82-76 IN OVERTIME AT NORTH GREENVILLE
Three Saints totaled double figures led by Lindsay Kyle’s 19

Greenville, SC – The Lady Saints basketball team picked up their first win of the season defeating North Greenville University in overtime, 82-76 in Haynes Gym. The Saints advance to 1-3 on the season while North Greenville dropped to 0-1.

After seven ties, North Greenville converted on two Saint turnovers and hit two free throws in the last three minutes of the first half to send the Lady Saints to the locker room down 34-42. The Saints only shot 43.3% (13-30) from the field while North Greenville shot 62.5% (15-24).

In the second half, the Lady Saints jumped out to a 9-0 run in the first four minutes to take the lead 43-42 on an Essence Greer (Washington, D.C.) jump shot. After two ties, North Greenville would regain a five point lead with 7:11 left in regulation. Limestone fought back and tied the ballgame again at 63-63 on a made free throw by Monica Adams (Kings Mountain, NC) at 3:29. After another tie, Limestone would go up by five points with just 49 seconds remaining. North Greenville’s Ebony Davis (Hopkins, SC) hit a three-pointer at 31seconds. A Limestone turnover would lead to a North Greenville layup to tie the game once again at 71 with 17 seconds to go. Both teams would were able to get shots off but did not connect as they headed overtime.

In the overtime period North Greenville took the first lead and then Limestone retaliated with a three pointer by Tierney Burdett (Peoria, Ill.). North Greenville would only come as close as three with 2:30 left. Limestone would then take a five point lead on two made free throws by Burdett with just 1:55 to go. A made free throw by North Greenville’s Jessica Gladden (Chester, SC) would cut the Saints lead to four with just 44 seconds remaining. Ariel Lyons (Brandon, Fla.) and Tiffany Jones (Greer, SC) would both sink a free throw a piece in the remaining seconds to clinch the win 82-76.

Lindsay Kyle (Springfield, VA) led all scorers with 19 points, shooting 50% (8-16) from the field. Lyons chipped in 17 points shooting 70% (7-10) on the night. Burdett added 14 points in the win. Adams controlled boards for the Saints pulling down 11 rebounds and 8 points, shooting 100% (4-4) from the charity stripe. Limestone shot 41.9% (31-74) from the floor and 45.5% (5-11) from beyond the arc.

Four Crusaders reached double figures with Amanda Millner (Clover, SC) leading the way with 18. Robin Warner (Greenville, SC) and Nikki Wood (Spartanburg, SC) both totaled 12 points a piece and Debbie Wyatt (Goose Creek, SC) added 11. Wyatt and Millner grabbed 9 rebounds respectively and Wood also contributed 6 assists. The Crusaders ended the contest shooting 45.9% (28-61) from the floor and 33.3% (4-12) from three point range.

Coach Fox commented that tonight’s win was a great road win. “North Greenville is a tough place to play and the team came out with a great win with everyone contributing.”

The Lady Saint’s will open up Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday at Queens University of Charlotte. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
