LIMESTONE LOSES TO UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO-COLORADO SPRINGS 84-74 |
ORLANDO, Fla.—Limestone College suffered its second loss of the season as it was defeated 84-74 by the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in women’s basketball action on Saturday at the Disney Tip-Off Classic. The Lady Saints stand at 0-2 for the season. Essence Greer (Washington, D.C.) recorded her first double-double as a Lady Saint with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Tiffany Jones (Greer, S.C.) led Limestone in scoring with 16 points. Addie Graves (Columbia, S.C.) posted 13 points and 5 boards. Breanna Ray (Spartanburg, S.C.) had three assists. UC-Colorado Springs had a nine point lead entering halftime, 44-35, but Limestone fought back in the second half as the Mountain Lions edged the Lady Saints in scoring, 40-39. Limestone cut its opponents lead to only seven points with two minutes left, but struggled in shooting, only making two of five shots in the final two minutes. UCCS converted 23 points off turnovers as Limestone had 22. The Mountain Lions had 14 second-chance points as Limestone had 15. The Lady Saints shot 25.6% (10-39) from the field in the first half, but were 40.5% in the second period (15-37). Limestone was also 19-30 in free-throws (63.3%) for the game. Limestone will wrap up play at the Disney Tip-Off Classic on Sunday with a game against Winona State at 7:30 p.m. |
