LADY SAINTS BASKETBALL FALLS TO BELLARMINE 80-69

ORLANDO, Fla.- The Limestone College women's basketball started its season with an 80-69 loss to Bellarmine University at the Disney Tip-Off Classic on Friday evening. Three Lady Saints reached double scoring figures in the effort.

Limestone's Blanca Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) scored 16 points and went 4-for-7 from behind the arc. Tierney Burdett (Peoria, Ill.) had 13 points, and Essence Greer (Washington, D.C.) scored 12 points and posted 8 boards. Lindsay Kyle (Springfield, Va.) also grabbed eight rebounds, and Ariel Lyons (Brandon, Fla.) had six assists.

The Knights had a 36-26 lead at halftime, and edged Limestone 44-43 in the second half for the win.

The Lady Saints were 9-for-18 in 3-pointers, and were 24-63 overall from the field (38.1%). Bellarmine converted 30 points from 27 Limestone turnovers as the Saitns only had 9 points from 20 Knight turnovers.

Four Bellarmine players scored in double figures. Taylor Kopple had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Dana Beaven scored 12 points and had 9 rebounds, as Ashley Lewallen scored 10 points. Angela Smith added 19 more.

Limestone faces the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Saturday at 5 p.m. in its second appearance at the Disney Tip-Off Classic.
