LIMESTONE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES SIGNEES

GAFFNEY, S.C.- Limestone College women’s basketball coach Corey Fox has announced the signings of three players during the spring signing period. Melissa Hawkins, Stephanie Munoz and Blanca Gonzalez will look to contribute to the Lady Saints roster immediately.

Hawkins, a 6-foot-1-inch post player, comes to Limestone after playing two seasons with the very successful women’s basketball program at Kankakee Community College. Hawkins is a native of Marion, Ind., and will help bolster the Lady Saints’ strong post game.

“Melissa is different from all of our other post players” says Fox. “She can score from the block, but she can also hit shots from the perimeter. We are looking for an outstanding two years from Melissa.”

Munoz, a 5-foot-4-inch guard, joins the Lady Saints from a highly successful Lincoln Land Community College. Munoz, from East Peoria Ill, was team captain at Lincoln Land Community College where was named First Team All-Conference, Conference All-Tournament, and was team MVP. Munoz also shot 43% from behind the arc.

“Stephanie is an outstanding three point shooter who can also get to the basket,” commented Fox. “She is an extremely good guard who can play the wing as well as run the point. I am looking forward to coaching Stephanie for the next two seasons.”

Gonzalez, is a 5-foot-7inch guard from Neosho County Community College. She joins the Lady Saints after a stellar career in which she was named MVP, Female Athlete of the Year, Team Captain, All-Conference, and All-Area.

“Blanca is a very athletic guard who can make plays on both ends of the floor,” says Fox. “She is an outstanding athlete and will play the wing for the Lady Saints. Blanca can get out and score in transition, and can really defend in the open court, which will help her make an immediate impact for us. She will be another solid player for the Lady Saints in the next two years.”

The Limestone College women’s basketball team will begin its season on Wednesday, November 15 at 6 p.m. when the team hosts North Greenville at 6 p.m. at the Timken Center in Gaffney, S.C.
