THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Limestone College’s women’s basketball
player Ariel Lyons (Brandon, Fla.) was named to the All-Conference Carolinas
team, as announced by the conference office on Friday. Head coaches
from conference member institutions nominate and then vote on the award
winners who represent the best of the best for the conference.
Lyons, a senior guard, was a dominate force for the Saints this season,
averaging 7.4 points per game, 5.2 assists per game, and 2.2 steals
per game. Lyons is currently ranked second in the conference in assists
per game, and thirtieth in the NCAA Division II statistical rankings.
Lyons posted double-digit points on nine different occasions and had
three double-doubles on the season. Two of her double-doubles consisted
of points and assists. Most notably, Lyons handed out double-digit assists
in three games this year. Lyons had 156 assists on the season and is
fourth in career assists at Limestone in just two seasons with the Saints.
Lyons started in 28 of her 30 games played for the Saints this season,
leading her team to a 16-15 overall record, 11-9 in Conference Carolinas
for a fifth place finish in the league.
