LADY SAINTS FALL TO ANDERSON, 56-70


ANDERSON, S.C. – The Limestone women’s basketball team fell at Anderson University Wednesday night, 56-70 in Conference Carolina action. Anderson’s Keana Boyd (Newberry, S.C.) led all scorers with 16 points, 5 steals and 3 assists. Essence Greer (Washington, D.C./Miami Dade) led the Lady Saints with 13 points on 3-4 shooting from the field. The Saints drop to 12-11overall, 7-6 in league play, as Anderson advances to 19-2, 13-1 in the conference.

The first half featured nine lead changes and four ties. Limestone outscored Anderson 13-8 in the final 7:38 of the first half to take a 34-30 lead at the break.

After three more lead changes and one tie in the first four minutes of the second half, Anderson took the lead and held on to it the rest of the way.

Anderson’s lead finally reached double digits – 55-45 – with 5:14 remaining. Limestone got no closer than six points in the final five minutes.

Anderson's Nikki Anthony had 14 points, and Latrice Thomas with 10.

Addie Graves (Columbia, S.C.) and Lindsey Kyle (Springfield, Va.) added 9 points a piece. Ariel Lyons (Brandon, Fla.) picked up 7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal for the Saints. Tierney Burdett (Peoria, Ill.) also added 7 points in the loss.

Led by Genia Holbrook’s eight rebounds, Anderson won the boards, 36-33.

Anderson, No. 6 in this week’s East Region poll, shot 44 percent from the field. After shooting 54 percent from the field in the first half, Limestone shot just 25 percent in the second half to finish the game at 38 percent.

Li mestone hosts Barton College on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Anderson will play host to St. Andrews on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
