LIMESTONE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEEATS ST. ANDREWS

LAURINBURG, N.C.—Senior forward Danielle Norman (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied her eighth double-double of the season but visiting Limestone College built a 31-point halftime lead by shooting 60-percent in the first half and cruised to a 73-53 Conference Carolinas women’s basketball victory over host St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Monday evening in Harris Court.

The Saints (9-9 overall; 4-4 Conference Carolinas) held the Knights (3-12; 2-7) to just 19.4% shooting while dominating the glass, 27-15, in the first half to construct an insurmountable 48-17 lead at the intermission.

Limestone slowly built up a 23-point cushion in the first 13 minutes of the game before Norman made her first appearance in three games (Norman is playing through a knee injury). The Saints continued to pull away with the help of 13 first-half points by junior Tierney Burdett (Peoria, Ill.) and five assists by senior Ariel Lyons (Brandon, Fla.).

St. Andrews played much better in the second half out scoring the Saints 36-25 but the 31-point halftime proved to large to overcome. Back-to-back three-pointers by freshman Kristin Zipkin (Canton, Ga.) sliced the Limestone lead in half, 66-51, but the Knights were held to just one made field goal in the final three and a half minutes to erase any hope of a huge comeback.

Norman scored 11 of 15 points and grabbed eight of her 11 rebounds in the second half to record her eighth double-double in 13 games. Burdett tied Norman for game-high scoring honors with 15 points for the Saints.

Knights sophomore Desiree Jones (Tulsa, Okla.) and Saints senior Monica Adams (Kings Mountain, N.C.) followed for their respective clubs with 14 points apiece.
Limestone shot 44.6-percent from the floor while St. Andrews only connected on 27.3%. The Saints finished with a 50-37 rebounding edge but committed more turnovers, 21-16.

Adams logged her own double-double with 11 rebounds while junior Addie Graves (Columbia, S.C.) had a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with her eight points. Lyons chipped in with eight points and six assists.

Zipkin bucketed eight points while senior Jessy Perkins (Goldsboro, N.C.) added six points and six rebounds. Norman, who had eight offensive boards, also made a game-high five steals.

St. Andrews next hosts Conference Carolinas rival Coker College on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. while Limestone hosts league foe Lees-McRae College at the same time.
