LIMESTONE BASKETBALL SPLITS AT ERSKINE |
DUE WEST, S.C.—The Limestone College basketball teams split with Erskine College on Thursday night. The Limestone men picked up their sixth straight win with a 67-58 victory over the Flying Fleet. Limestone climbs to 6-2 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (11-4 overall). Limestone built a 44-25 lead in the first half that built up the 6-58 win. Four Saints scored in double figures for the win. Terrell Smith (West Columbia, S.C.) had 14 points, Marques Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) had 13, John Prioleau (Charleston, S.C.) had 11, and Marq Bell (Raleigh, N.C.) scored 10. Erskine defeated the Lady Saints 73-63. Limestone falls to 4-4 in the CVAC (5-10 overall) while the Flying Fleet post a 3-6 CVAC record (3-9 overall). The Lady Fleet went on a 21-4 run in the second half, but the Lady Saints fought back to cut the hosts’ lead to only one point on two separate occasions. However, Erskine pulled away for the 73-63 win. Limestone’s basketball teams return to Gaffney for a three game home stand as the Saints host Barton on January 20, Pfeiffer on January 25, and Mount Olive on January 27. The women will tip off all three contests at 5:30 p.m. The men’s games are slated to start at 7:30 p.m. |
