LADY SAINTS TAME COBRAS WITH 69-56 WIN |
HARTSVILLE, S.C.—The Limestone College Lady Saints defeated the Coker Lady Cobras, 69-56, on Monday night. Limestone climbs to 4-3 in the CVAC (5-9 overall) while Coker falls to 1-6 in the conference (3-11 overall). Limestone's Blanca Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) had a game-high 14 rebounds and scored eight points. Shelly Robinson (Belmont, N.C.) and Lindsay Kyle (Springfield, Va.) each scored 14 points for the Lady Saints. Robinson hit four 3-pointers. Addie Graves (Columbia, S.C.) added 12 points, and Ariel Lyons scored 10. Coker struggled with shooting in the first half, going 7-of 23 (21.9%). However, the Lady Cobras were 80% from the free-throw line (8-10). Addie Graves was the only Lady Saint to go to the free-throw line in the first half, as she made her only attempt. Limestone was 43.3% from the field (13-30) in the first period. The Lady Saints entered halftime with a 32-23 lead. Coker had a tough time in the second half, going 14-of-36 from the field (38.9%), compared to Limestone's 50.9 field-goal percentage (29-57). For the contest, the Lady Saints had 42 rebounds compared to the Cobras 39. Limestone outscored Coker 37-33 in the second period for the 69-56 win. Limestone travels to Due West, S.C., to face Erskine on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Saints return to the Timken Center in Gaffney on Saturday when they host Barton at 5:30 p.m. |
