TROJANS TOP SAINTS 75-38 IN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL |
GAFFNEY, SC – The Lady Saints basketball fell to Anderson University on Wednesday night, 38-75. Anderson’s Keana Boyd (Newberry, SC) led all scorers with 18 points, shooting 6- of -12 (50%) from the field. For Limestone, Essence Greer (Washington, D.C.) led the way with 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Saints drop to 7-7 overall, 2-2 in conference play, while Anderson jumps to 10-2, 4-1 in the conference. For the Saints, Monica Adams (Kings Mountain, NC) had 7 points and 5 boards, shooting 3- of -4 (75%) from the field. Lindsey Kyle (Springfield, VA) added 6 points on the night. For Anderson, Mikala Fogle-Wilson (Columbia, S.C.) finished with 12 points and 3 steals. Alexa Neal (Greensboro, NC) contributed 11 points and 5 boards and Whitney Ketner (Spartanburg, S.C.) added 10 points in the win. The Saints scored the first basket of the game on a made 3-pointer by Kyle. Anderson then went on a 16-0 run to go up by 13 points. Midway through the half, the Saints cut the Trojan lead to 8 as Tiffany Jones (Greer, S.C.) hit a 3-pointer, reaching her 1000th career point at Limestone. The Trojans shot 53.3% (16-30) from the field, while Limestone only shot 13.3% (2-15) in the half. The Saints trailed 13-37 heading into intermission. The Trojans went on an 8-0 run to start the second half until Limestone’s Adams scored the Saints’ first bucket of the half at 16:39. For the game, Limestone shot 20.5% (8-39) and Anderson shot 49.1% (26-53). The Lady Saint’s will travel to Wilson, N.C. on Saturday, January 12 to take on Conference Carolina foe, Barton College. Tip off is set for 5:30 pm. Anderson will travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to take on St. Andrews at 2:00 pm. |
