| LEXINGTON, KY -- Sophomore outside hitter Melissa Thomas (Easley,
SC) was named to the All-Atlantic Region Team Tuesday, as announced
by the American College Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Thomas began the 2007 season by being named to the All-Tournament
Team at the "Jaguar Classic" tournament hosted by Augusta
State University on opening weekend. Thomas was also named to the
Conference Carolinas first team All-Conference as she was a dominate
force for the Saints this season averaging 4.42 kills per game, good
for second in the conference and third in hitting percentage (.364).
Thomas was named conference player of the week twice this season and
reached a career milestone as she surpassed her 1000th kill in just
two seasons with the Saints. Thomas also posted a career high 30 kills
in the Saints win over Barton College earlier this season, which placed
her in the 2007 DII AVCA “30 Kill Club.” After posting
her thirteenth double-double of the season, Thomas was named to the
Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team as she led the Saints to
the Championship match. During the conference tournament, Thomas smashed
62 kills for the offense and added 48 digs and 20 total blocks in
just 3 matches. Thomas ended the season with 1,071 career kills taking
the all-time leader position at Limestone with two years left to compete. Click
