MELISSA THOMAS NAMED TO AVAC ALL-REGION TEAM

LEXINGTON, KY -- Sophomore outside hitter Melissa Thomas (Easley, SC) was named to the All-Atlantic Region Team Tuesday, as announced by the American College Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Thomas began the 2007 season by being named to the All-Tournament Team at the "Jaguar Classic" tournament hosted by Augusta State University on opening weekend. Thomas was also named to the Conference Carolinas first team All-Conference as she was a dominate force for the Saints this season averaging 4.42 kills per game, good for second in the conference and third in hitting percentage (.364). Thomas was named conference player of the week twice this season and reached a career milestone as she surpassed her 1000th kill in just two seasons with the Saints. Thomas also posted a career high 30 kills in the Saints win over Barton College earlier this season, which placed her in the 2007 DII AVCA “30 Kill Club.” After posting her thirteenth double-double of the season, Thomas was named to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team as she led the Saints to the Championship match. During the conference tournament, Thomas smashed 62 kills for the offense and added 48 digs and 20 total blocks in just 3 matches. Thomas ended the season with 1,071 career kills taking the all-time leader position at Limestone with two years left to compete.
