LIMESTONE SHUTS DOWN QUEENS


CHARLOTTE, NC – The Limestone College volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with 3-0 win over Queens University on Friday night to secure a second place finish in the Conference Carolinas. Melissa Thomas (Easley, SC) led the Saints with 16 kills and 10 digs, her tenth double-double of the season.

Coming into tonight’s match, Thomas only need 7 kills to reach her 1,000th in just two years with the Saints. The Saints easily took game one 30-13 and Thomas added 4 kills to her total. Early in game two Thomas smashed 3 more kills to reach the mark and the Saints won game two 30-25. Game three was much the same as Thomas 6 more kills to lead all hitters with 16 on the night. The Saints advanced to 18-15 overall, 16-4 in conference play as the Royals of Queens dropped to 2-18 in the league, 3-31 on the season.

Courtney Taotoai (Norwalk, CA) led the defense with 18 digs as 4 other Saints also recorded double-digit dig totals. Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, SC) added 15 digs along with 7 kills, Lynn Milam (Summerville, SC) Laura Kerrison (Charleston, SC) and Thomas all added 10 digs a piece in the effort. Kerrison handed out 28 assists and Samantha Flannery (Acworth, GA) chipped in another 7 kills for the offense. Ashley Hubbard (Temple, TX) had an all around strong performance with 6 kills, 5 service aces and 6 blocks.

Limestone earned a bye and will host the quarter-finals of the conference tournament on Wednesday night at 6:30 in the Timken Gym.
