| LIMESTONE VOLLEYBALL TO PARTICIPATE IN "DIG FOR THE CURE" PROGRAM |
GAFFNEY, SC – For the second consecutive season, the Limestone College volleyball team is joining with college volleyball teams around the country to sponsor a “Dig for the Cure” event on Friday, October 26 and Saturday October 27 during the Saints’ matches against Conference Carolinas foes Coker College and St. Andrews College. Last year the Saints raised over $500 for the cause. Friday’s match will begin at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s match is slated for a 2 p.m. start. In addition to raising money for this great cause, the Lady Saints will be wearing pink jersey’s and hair ribbons. All fans are encouraged to wear pink as a way of showing support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, the Foundation is an international organization with a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through local affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Together with its Affiliate Network, corporate partners and generous donors, the Komen Foundation has raised more than $740 million for the fight against breast cancer. For more information, visit www.komen.org or call the National Toll-Free Breast Care Hotline at 1-800 I'M AWARE® (1-800-462-9273). The Dig for the Cure program was established in 2003 by Lisa Marston, the head volleyball coach of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
