| MOUNT OLIVE FALLS TO LIMESTONE 3-1 IN CONFERENCE CAROLINAS WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL |
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Mount Olive Trojans fell to Limestone 30-25, 30-19, 21-30, 30-26 in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball Friday at Kornegay Arena. Melissa Thomas paced Limestone with 22 kills. Mount Olive (13-12 overall, 9-5 Conference Carolinas) played from behind throughout game one, but never trailed by more than four points until Michelle Cash’s two aces during a late service run gave Limestone (13-14, 11-3) a 28-22 lead. The Trojans fought off one game point before Limestone held on for the win. Limestone took an early lead in game two, building the lead to double digits. Mount Olive never got closer than eight points down the stretch and the Saints took a two-game lead. After Limestone built an early five-point lead in game four, Corie Skislak’s ace helped pull the Trojans within 16-14. But Mount Olive never came any closer than two points the rest of the way and Ashley Hubbard’s kill on match point sealed the win. Sam Flannery recorded 13 kills and a match-high 11 blocks for Limestone, while Hubbard finished with 12 kills. Laura Kerrison recorded 51 assists, while Chelsea Anthony led all players with 26 digs. Thomas added 12 digs for the Saints. Mote finished with 16 kills, 10 digs and two aces for Mount Olive, while Racey Bartley added 13 kills and a team-high five blocks. Mariangelix Cordero recorded a career-high 45 assists, while Mallory Peavler led the Trojans defensively with 23 digs. Limestone travels to Wilson, N.C., Saturday at 2 p.m. to take on Barton in Conference Carolinas action. |
