| ANDERSON DEFEATS LIMESTONE IN 4 GAMES |
ANDERSON, S.C. -- Amanda Edwards had 23 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks to lead Anderson University to a 30-22, 30-26, 27-30, 30-23 victory over Limestone in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday night at the Abney Center. Limestone was led by Melissa Thomas with 16 kills while Sam Flannery added 10 kills and three blocks and Ashley Hubbard finished with nine kills and seven blocks. Limestone setter Laura Kerrison had 40 assists. Courtney Toataoi led the Saint defense with 26 digs. Anderson, 13-15 overall and 9-4 in Conference Carolinas, snapped
a three-match losing streak and knocked Limestone, 11-13 and 9-3,
out of a first-place tie with Lees-McRae in the league standings. Wearing pink jerseys and pink socks as part of a breast cancer awareness
promotion and fund raiser, the Lady Trojans jumped out to a 15-9 lead
in the first game and never let the Saints get closer than three points
the remainder of the game. After a tie at 11 in the second game, the two teams tied seven more
times before Anderson snapped the final tie at 25 with a 5-1 run to
take a 2-0 lead. But Anderson closed out the match in convincing fashion, taking a
15-9 and not letting Limestone get closer than three points the remainder
of the game. Anderson setter Lindsay Doggett had 51 assists, 10 digs, four blocks,
and two aces. Ashley Prince contributed eight blocks and Leanna Willis
added 14 kills and 10 digs for the Lady Trojans. Adria Mullaney led
the Anderson defense with 28 digs. |
