VOLLEYBALL REFUSES TO FALL IN 3-2 WIN OVER COKER COLLEGE

HARTSVILLE, SC -- The Saints volleyball team advanced to 4-1 (6-10 overall) in Conference Carolina play tonight defeating Coker College (6-11, 3-3) on the road 3-2. In game on the Saints couldn’t find their legs after the long ride east and they ended up falling to the Cobra’s 17-30. The Saints rallied back in game 2 to take the win 30-27 and game three was just the opposite with Coker on top 30-27. The Saints picked up game four 30-27. In game five, Coker jumped out in front of the Saints 10-4, but the Saints recovered by railing off 11 straight points to Coker’s 2 to take the fifth game 15-13 and the match 3-2.

Four Saints recorded double-digit kills as Melissa Thomas (Easley, SC) led the team with 14, Sam Flannery (Acworth, GA) was a close second with 13 while Ashley Hubbard (Temple, TX) and Lynn Milam (Summerville, SC) both contributed 10. Laura Kerrison controlled the offense with 47 assists. Defensively Hubbard and Flannery combined for 11 total blocks and Chelsea Anthony had 36 digs.

Leading the Cobras was Margaret Madison (Savannah, GA) with 17 kills and 17 digs, while Meagan Haupt (Summerville, SC) and Kristin Teets (Columbia, SC) each had 16 kills, with Teets adding four blocks. Megan Gordon (Chicago, IL) gave the Cobras 53 assists in the match.

Limestone will travel to Laurinburg, NC tomorrow to take on St. Andrews Presbyterian at 1:00 pm and non-conference opponent Wingate University at 3:00 pm.
