LIMESTONE VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS ANDERSON AND SHAW

Gaffney, SC – The Limestone College volleyball team went 2-0 over visiting Anderson University and Shaw University, defeating both teams in 3 games. The Saints downed Conference Carolina foe, Anderson University 30-28, 30-23 and 30-26, to advance to 2-0 in conference play. Limestone then cruised to a 30-11, 30-19 and 30-17 win over Shaw, continuing their home win streak of 18 to finish out the day at 4-8 overall.

In match one, Melissa Thomas (Easley, SC) led the Saints with 14 kills and 11 digs. Libero Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, SC) led the defense with 20 digs, while Ashley Hubbard (Temple, TX) controlled the net with 5 blocks and contributed 9 kills. Laura Kerrison (Charleston, SC) added 5 kills, 24 assists, 11 digs, 3 solo blocks and 3 service aces in the win.

In the second match, Kerrison led the Saints picking up a triple-double with 13 assists, 11 service aces and 12 digs. Kerrison’s 11 service aces shattered the former single match record of 7, set by Allison Hamilton in 2005. Limestone also saw strong play from their reserves in the win over Shaw as Candace Robertson (Gaffney, SC) connected for 5 kills on 10 attacks and 2 blocks, while Ashley Blackwelder (Fuquay-Varina, NC) added 9 digs and 3 service aces.

The Saints will travel to Salisbury, NC on Wednesday to take on Catawba College; game time is set for 7:00 PM.
