LIMESTONE VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN SEASON OPENER AT AUGUSTA STATE INVITATIONAL |
Augusta, GA – The Limestone College volleyball team opened the 2007 season with a 1-1 split at the Augusta State Invitational today defeating Clark Atlanta University 3-0 and dropping the night cap to Florida Tech 1-3. In game one, the Saints defeated Clark Atlanta University 30-17, 30-25, and 30-28 as Junior Sam Flannery smashed10 kills on 22 total attacks with only 1 error. Freshman Laura Kerrison made her college debut with 15 assist along with Freshman Jennifer O’Keefe who ended the match with 7 kills on 16 total attacks. Junior Melissa Thomas had five kills and Senior Ashley Hubbard went 6 for 11 with only two errors and had five digs. On the defensive end sophomore libero Chelsea Anthony picked up 12 digs and 3 service aces, Thomas and Hubbard added 6 and 5 digs respectively in the effort. In game two, the Saints fought hard but fell to Florida Tech 30-27, 27-30, 19-30 & 20-30. The Lady Saints will take on Newberry College tomorrow morning at 8:00 am and will finish the tournament taking on the host, Augusta State at 12:00 noon.
