LIMESTONE MEN’S TENNIS SIGNS 3 |
GAFFNEY, S.C.— Limestone College Head Tennis Coach Tyler Davis has announced the signing of three recruits. Alexander Fager, Matthieu Bosquet, and Thomas Ollivier will compete with the Saints during the upcoming 2007-08 season. Alexander Fager joins the Saints from Gothemburg, Sweden. This 6-foot-2-inch baseliner has a terrific work ethic on the court and in the weight room. He is ranked in the top 300 in Sweden’s senior standings and has competed in ITF junior events in Thailand and Hong Kong. He plans to major in business at the College and looks to play professionally following graduation. “Alexander is the type of player that will be an instant asset on and off the court for our team,” pointed out Davis. “Tennis has become a sport of fitness and strength, so it takes dedication in the weight room to be your absolute best. Alexander already has the work ethic of a successful college athlete at only 19 years of age. I expect him to come in and challenge for one of the top three spots on our team as a freshman.” Matthieu Bosquet comes to Limestone from the T.C. Chatou Club in France. He currently has a 1/6 ranking in the French tennis system. He has set a personal goal to be ranked top 25 nationally in NCAA Division II and plans to study business administration. “We are very fortunate to have Matthieu committed,” said Davis. “His impressive French ranking is equal to several players playing top three on NCAA Division I teams. He has the classic, crafty French game that will make him a tough match-up day in and day out. Matthieu is an established student, transferring in as a junior, so his maturity will be an assist to our team. I expect him to come in and play at or near the top of the singles lineup.” Thomas Ollivier is also from France, and played at the Falaise Es Club in his native country. He currently has a 2/6 ranking in the French Tennis System. Ollivier spent his freshman and sophomore seasons with JUCO powerhouse Laredo. At Laredo, he played in the top three singles spots and recorded wins over nationally-ranked opponents. He will major in business at Limestone. “Thomas brings maturity ant athleticism to our lineup,” Davis commented. “He is an established player at the college level, having already played two years at Laredo. Thomas is an aggressive baseliner who also works very hard in the weight room. As a coach, it’s nice when players come into a program knowing what to expect when it comes to training. Guys like Thomas are great to have in the lineup. He will come in and challenge for one of the top three spots in the lineup.” |
