LIMESTONE TENNIS TEAMS PICK UP WINS OVER LINCOLN MEMORIAL |

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College tennis teams picked up wins over Lincoln Memorial on Monday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center. The Lady Saints won 6-3 as the men defeated the Railsplitters 7-2. Limestone’s women climb to 9-6 overall as the Saints improve to 7-8. The Lincoln Memorial women (4-5) got wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles flights, and at No. 1 doubles. Melanie Kragl (Stuttgart, Germany) defeated Jennifer Pardon at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1). Lee Cribb (Spartanburg, S.C.) got a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3, while Jessie Griffin (Atlanta, Ga.) won at No. 5 and Nicole Piazza (Hilton Head, S.C.) defeated her opponent at No. 6. The Lady Saints’ No. 2 doubles team of Kragl and Cribb beat their competition 8-1, and Piazza and Griffin got an 8-1 win at No. 3. Alexandra Gade (Copenhagen, Denmark) and Jennifer Snaider (Asuncion, Paraguay) lost a tough match, 8-5 at the top doubles flight. On the men’s side, Lincoln Memorial (8-7 overall) forfeited the No. 3 doubles and No. 4 and 5 singles matches. Christian Munn (Sao Paulo, Brazil) battled through three sets but lost to Lukas Burkon (6-4, 4-6, 10-4). Phillippe Hogan (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) got a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2. Peter Elsborg (Copenhagen, Denmark) also won in two sets as he beat Matt Estep (6-0, 6-0). Christian Warnholtz (Mexico City, Mexico) got the win at No. 4 when his opponent was forced to retire. The Railsplitters Lukas Burkon and Guilherme Alves defeated Limestone’s top doubles team of Munn and Elsborg 8-6. Warnholtz and Jafet Banuelos (Mexico City, Mexico) had an 8-0 win at the No. 2 doubles slot. Limestone travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to face Tusculum tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
