LIMESTONE’S SNAIDER & HOGAN NAMED CVAC WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK;

THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Limestone College sophomore Jennifer Snaider (Asuncion, Paraguay) was named Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women’s tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Snaider (9-7 overall, 4-0 CVAC) helped the Lady Saints to a 4-0 week in CVAC play.  Limestone opened CVAC play this week on Tuesday with a convincing 9-0 win over Pfeiffer.  Recently stepping up to the #1 singles spot, Snaider defeated Andrea Stoup 6-1, 6-2 and teamed with Alexandra Gade at #1 doubles for an 8-2 victory.  On Thursday, she defeated Lees McCrae’s Kacey Mabe 7-5, 6-3 and also recorded an 8-0 doubles win.  Snaider had a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over Mt. Olive’s Carol Salgado and another 8-0 doubles win on Saturday. On Monday, she defeated Tina Rohner of Converse 6-1, 6-4, and teamed up with Gade again for an 8-0 win in doubles.

Aside from tennis, Snaider carries a 3.7 GPA while majoring in mathematics.

 

THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Limestone College freshman Phillippe Hogan (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) was named Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference men’s tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Hogan (7-9 overall, 3-0 CVAC) helped the Saints to a 3-0 week in CVAC play.  Limestone opened its CVAC schedule this week on Tuesday versus Pfeiffer University.  Hogan, a freshman from Montreal, Canada, got a comfortable win over TJ Maurer 7-6(3), 6-0.  On Thursday, Hogan came away with a tough win over Lees-McCrae’s big serving Alek Mojski by a score of 7-6(3),5-7,10-8.  Hogan closed out the week as he and the Saints defeated Mount Olive for the first time in CVAC play.  He got a win over defending CVAC player of the week, Vitor Lage, 6-4, 6-2.  Philippe teamed up with Chris Ross da Silva at the #2 and #3 doubles spot for a 2-1 week. 

Aside from tennis, Hogan is a 4.0 student double majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics.
