LADY SAINTS DEFEAT LENOIR-RHYNE 111-80

HICKORY, N.C.— Limestone College defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 111-80 in women’s swimming action on Saturday afternoon. Today’s meet marked the first home event for the Lady Bears swim team, which is in its inaugural season.

The Lady Saints were led by Renee-Marie Pouchet (Maraval, Trinidad & Tobago) as she finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (26.84) and 100-yard free (58.31). Marija Grubic (Split, Croatia) also took first in two events for Limestone. She won the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.64) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.59). Molly Reichwald  (Atlanta, Ga.).took first in the 1000 free (11:40.68) and the 200 individual medley (2:22.35). Ines Speranda (Split, Croatia) won the 200 butterfly (2:24.21) and the 500 free (5:45.65).

Limestone’s 400 medley relay team of Pouchet, Carmen Adams (Conway, S.C.), Jessi Sullivan (Lancaster, S.C.), and Jenna Arington (Pittsford, N.Y.) had a time of 4:19.91 to win the event.

The Bears were led by freshman Emily Fowler (Kernersville, N.C.), as she won Lenoir-Rhyne’s only individual event of the afternoon. Fowler won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:05.46,establishing a school record in the process. Senior Nicole Ley (Cupertino, Calif.) set the Lenoir-Rhyne mark in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:30.58, giving her the school record in both backstroke events.
 
The Limestone men and women will be back in action on November 16 as the Saints host Wingate at the Timken Aquatic Center in Gaffney at 5 p.m.
