| LADY SAINTS SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH MARS HILL |
GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Lady Saints softball team splits its doubleheader against Mars Hill on Thursday afternoon at Lady Saints Field. Limestone picked up a 4-1 win in game one, but Mars Hill got an 8-0 shutout in game 2. Limestone stands at 14-17 while Mars Hill boasts a 26-12 record. In the first contest, Limestone’s Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) pitched the entire game for the win as she struck out six batters and scattered four hits. Katie Blankenship was tagged with the loss. Mars Hill’s Kristina Osborn homered in the first inning for the Lions’ only run of the game. The Lady Saints took the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning, and went on to score runs in the third and fourth for the win. Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, S.C.) was 1-for-3 with homerun. First baseman Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Designated player Samantha Weaver (Emmittsburg, Md.) was also 1-for-2 with an RBI. Centerfielder Keisha Thompson (Union, S.C.) had two stolen bases. Limestone struggled in game two as the team gave up nine hits. The Lady Saints had a costly error in the third and the Lions ended the inning with a 6-0 lead. Mars Hill added two more runs in the fourth for the 8-0 victory. Evans was credited with the loss after pitching four innings, and Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished out the game for Limestone. Tiffany Farthering got the win. The Lions’ Rebakah Huff was 3-for-4 at the plate, while six other players recorded hits for Mars Hill. Evans had Limestone’s only hit of the game as she doubled in the fourth. The Lady Saints host CVAC-rival Belmont Abbey on Wednesday, March 28 at 2 p.m.
