| LADY SAINTS SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH ANDERSON |
GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Lady Saints softball team split its doubleheader against conference-rival Anderson University on Thursday. Limestone lost the first game, 2-1, but recovered for a 3-1 victory in game 2. The Lady Saints improve to 11-13 for the season (5-3 CVAC) as Anderson stands at 16-7 overall (8-2 CVAC). Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) took the loss for Limestone in game 1 as she only gave up four hits. Lady Saint Christina Woolgar (Orangevale, Calif.) drove in Limestone’s only run of the game. Anderson’s Meredith Knox (Washington, N.C.) got a lead off home run for the Trojans in the first inning. Anderson’s only other run came when a batter walked with the bases loaded. Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) only gave up three hits in Limestone’s 3-1 win in game 2. Stephanie Griffis (Pendleton, S.C.) and Donya Cobb (Lexington, S.C.) both pitched for the Lady Trojans in the loss. Limestone’s Jessica Brown (Inman, S.C.) got an RBI in the fourth as she singled to score third baseman Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.) Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio) also got an RBI as outfielder Chelsea Anthony scored a run. Evans tallied the Lady Saints’ final run of the game as she came home on a passed ball. The Lady Saints travel to Tigerville, S.C., on Saturday to play North Greenville at 1 p.m. |
