SOFTBALL GOES 2-1 ON DAY ONE OF EAST CAROLINA

| PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Limestone softball team picked up two
wins and a loss on day one of the East Carolina Tournament hosted by
UNC-Pembroke and Francis Marion. In the nightcap, the Saints defeated No. 13
UNC-P 3-1. Earlier in the day, the Saints defeated Davis and Elkins
7-6 on an RBI single by Lindsey Gladden (York, S.C.) in the bottom of
the seventh. The only loss of the day came against No. 10 Francis Marion,
3-6. The Saints improve to 13-19 overall. In the 3-6 loss to No. 10 Francis Marion, Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio) went 2-for-4 and Hanna Mills (Richmond, Va.) went 1-for-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Pitcher Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.) suffered the loss falling to 5-6 on the season. At the end of the fifth inning, DeMarr strained her shoulder and had to retire for the day. Mills moved over from third in relief, and held FMU scoreless for the last two innings. In the nightcap, No. 13 UNC-Pembroke scored one run in the first on two hits and a LC error, but left three runners on base. The Saints scored two runs on two hits and two errors in the bottom, to take the lead 2-1. UNCP had a chance to score in the top of the sixth, leaving two runners on base. LC secured their lead in the sixth on a one-run homer by Christina Woolgar (Orangeville, Calif.). Wallace improved to 6-8 with the win, with just four hits and no earned runs. The Saints will wrap up play at the East Carolina Tournament tomorrow with California University (Pa.) at 11:00 a.m. and Adelphi at 4:00 p.m.
