| LIMESTONE SOFTBALL GETS CVAC WINS OVER QUEENS |
CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The Limestone College softball team picked up two wins over Queens on Monday evening. Limestone evens its conference record to 2-2 with the victories (8-12 overall) as Queens suffers its first conference defeats of the season (4-2 CVAC/7-20 overall). Limestone won the first game 1-0. The second contest went into extra innings, but Limestone came away with the 9-8 victory. Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) pitched a complete game with five strikeouts as Limestone shutout Queens. The Lady Saints’ lone run came in the fourth. Third baseman Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.) singled and then stole second. Evans came up to bat and singled to score Own for the 1-0 win. Limestone rallied late in the second game for the 9-8 win. Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) pitched all nine innings, striking out 11 batters. Limestone hosts St. Andrews on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lady Saints Field in Gaffney. |
