LIMESTONE SOFTBALL SPLITS CONFERENCE OPENER WITH PFEIFFER

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Lady Saints Softball team split a Conference Carolinas double-header with Pfeiffer University on Wednesday. Pfeiffer took game one of the series 10-4 but Limestone retaliated with a 2-1 win in the nightcap. Limestone improves to 8-15 overall, 1-1 in league play. Pfeiffer now stands at 12-8, 4-2 in conference play.

In game one, the Falcons got on the board in the bottom of the first scoring six times. Pfeiffer added a run in the second and three more in the 6th capped off by a two run homer.

For Limestone, Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, S.C.) went 2-for-3 and Christiana Woolgar (Orangeville, Ca.) picked up two RBI’s. Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, GA) was credited with the loss, evening her record out at 4-4 on the season.

Game two saw Limestone score once in the top of the second before the Falcons came back to tie it in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Pfeiffer’s third baseman. Limestone then took the lead for good in the top of the fifth.

Mary Sheldon (Port Charlotte, Fla ) was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati, OH) was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Brittney Owen (Pasadena, Md.) was 1-for-2 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Emily Wallace (Winchester, Ky.) picked up the win from the mound, improving her record to 3-6.

The Saints return to action this weekend, as they will travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to compete in the North Georgia College and State University Tournament Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
