LADY SAINTS SOFTBALL TAKES 2

SALISBURY, N.C.-- The Limestone College softball team got two wins on Saturday at the Catawba College tournament as the Lady Saints defeated Shepherd, 10-2, and the University of Indianapolis, 5-4. Limestone improves to 4-8 overall with the wins.

Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.) got the win for Limestone against Shepherd. Catcher Jessica Brown (Inman, S.C.) had two homeruns and three RBIs for the Lady Saints as she was 2-for-3. Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) was 2-for-4 with a homerun and three RBIs. Second baseman Christina Woolgar (Orangevale, Calif.) was 2-for-4.

Shepherd scored the first run of the contest in the first inning, but Limestone responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Saints scored two more runs in the second, and had a run in the fourth and fifth for the win.

Evans picked up the win against the University of Indianapolis, as Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) got the save. Evans had three more RBIs going 2-for-4 at the plate, and Brown also had an RBI.

Limestone continues play at the Catawba Tournament on Sunday. The Lady Saints play Kutztown at 10:30 a.m. and Fairmont at 12:30 p.m.
