LIMESTONE SOFTBALL DROPS TWO ON FINAL DAY OF CATAWBA INVITATIONAL

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Limestone College softball team fell to Indianapolis University 2-10 and Lincoln Memorial 2-3, Sunday at the Catawba Invitational. Limestone’s overall record now stands at 7-14.

Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, GA) went 6 innings and suffered the loss against Indianapolis. The Lady Saints were down 9-0 in the top of the 5th before scoring. Lindsay Gladden (York, S.C.) was hit by a pitch and Felicia Fritz (Muncie, Ind.) walked in front of an RBI double by Christina Woolgar (Orangeville, Ca.) to score the Saints first run. Brittney Owen (Pasadena, Md.) singled for an RBI to bring in the second.

Hannah Mills (Richmond, Va.) was 2-3 on the game while Woolgar, Owen, and Jordan Goodman (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) each went 1-3 in the loss.

The Lady Saints picked up the first run against Lincoln Memorial in the top of the 2nd when Mills singled and later scored on a wild pitch. In the top of the 5th Woolgar tripled and scored on an error by the 3rd baseman. The Saints were unable to hold onto the lead in the bottom of the sixth, when LMU linked together 3 hits, the last of which was a triple to score two runs. LMU took the win in the bottom of the 7th after a lead off walk and a double down the left field line. Emily Wallace went the 6 innings on the mound, giving up 9 hits and 3 earned runs to take the loss.

The Saints will travel to Hartsville, S.C. on Tuesday, March 4 for their first Conference Carolinas double-header with Coker College. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
