LIMESTONE SOFTBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER WITH LANDER

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Limestone College's softball team swept a doubleheader with Lander University Thursday afternoon. The Saints won the first game, 6-2 and then won the nightcap 3-1. Limestone is now 6-10 on the season. Lander fell to 3-15 on the season. Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.) was credited with the win in game one, improving to 3-2 from the mound. Austin Murry (Boiling Springs, S.C.) took the loss and dropped to 1-6 on the season. In game two, Emily Wallace (Winchester, Ky.) picked up the win to advance to 2-4 on the season, while Jenna Kellett (Greenville, S.C.) dropped to 1-6 with the loss.

Although the Bearcats scattered more hits than Limestone in game one, it was the Saints that were able to produce more runs to kick off the day. Hannah Mills (Richmond, Va.) and Christina Woolgar (Orangeville, Calif.) both went 2-for-3 in game one, while knocking in one run apiece to pace Limestone. Woolgar also contributed on the defensive side by being credited with seven put-outs to shut down the Bearcats in the first game of the day.

Game two saw much of the same for the Saints. Designated player Jessica Brown (Inman, S.C.) was able to knock in two runs on one hit to keep Limestone up in the contest. Woolgar came up big again on the defensive front by putting out eleven potential Bearcat base-runners to lead Limestone to a 3-1 win to sweep Lander. The Saints used a total team effort to win the second game, even though LC was only able to scatter four hits.

Limestone will travel to Salisbury, N.C. on this weekend, to compete in the Catawba Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
