| LADY SAINTS SOFTBALL LOSES 2 TO WINGATE |
GAFFNEY, S.C.- The Lady Saints softball team lost two games to Wingate on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs shutout Limestone 10-0 in the first game, and won the second contest 6-2. Limestone falls to 1-7 for the season as Wingate improves to 10-2. Wingate shut out the Lady Saints 10-0 in the first game. The Lady Bulldogs scored the first run of the game in the first, had another two runs in the third, and scored a run in the fourth and sixth. Wingate scored five runs in the top of the seventh. Ashley Green got the win for the Bulldogs as she struck out nine batters. Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) was tagged with the loss. Wingate centerfielder Kimee Lewis was 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs in game 1, while first baseman Courtney Wagner and second baseman Megan McPhail each had two RBIs. Third baseman Hallie Pettigrew and left fielder Joy Henry were both 2-for-5 with RBIs. In the day’s second contest, Wingate scored three runs in the first, but Limestone answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. With runners on first and third, second baseman Christina Woolgar (Orangevale, Calif.), reached first base on an error by the Bulldgos’ shortstop as Lady Saint catcher Jordan Goodman (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) scored. Evans singled in the next at bat to score Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.) Ashley Green pitched four innings to get the win for Wingate, with Meredith Harris finishing out the game. The Bulldogs score two runs in the fourth and another in the seventh to secure the 6-2 victory. Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) got the loss after pitching the full game and striking out five batters. The Lady Saints host Mars Hill tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
