| SAINTS SPLIT FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON |
GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Limestone College softball team split its doubleheader with North Greenville for its first win of the season with a 3-0 shutout at Lady Saints Field on Thursday afternoon. Limestone improves to 1-5 overall as North Greenville stands at 1-11. North Greenville also got its first victory of the season with a 7-5 win in game 1. The Crusaders took advantage of several Limestone errors in the first and came out of the inning with a 4-1 lead. The Crusader brought their lead up to 5-1 in the third. The Lady Saints tried to rally in the bottom of the sixth and cut North Greenville's lead to 5-3. Limestone scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. The Crusaders scored two runs to win the game in the eighth. Candice Evans (Lexington, S.C.) was 2-for-2 at bat with a homerun and Christina Woolgar (Orangevale, Calif.) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.) scored two runs for Limestone, while Keisha Thompson (Union, S.C.) and Courtney Guerrieri (Union, S.C.) scored once. Ashley Warlick (1-0) got the win as Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.), who had nine strikeouts for Limestone, took the loss. Lady Saints pitcher Jennifer Casement (Peterborough, Ontario, Canada) pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in the second contest as Limestone shutout North Greenville 3-0. Limestone scored one run in the fourth and two in the sixth. Lindsey Gladden (York, S.C.), Jessica Brown (Inman, S.C.) and Owen all had RBIs for Limestone as Woolgar, Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio), and Gladden scored.
Limestone hosts Wingate on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
