MARS HILL, NC - The Lady Saints softball team dropped two games on
Tuesday afternoon at Mars Hill. Mars Hill improved to 13-1 overall while
the Saints fell to 3-7 on the season.
Tiffany Farthing (Kure Beach, NC) picked up the win (4-1) on the mound
allowing no runs while striking out six batters. Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati,
OH) was tagged with the loss, dropping to 1-3 on the season.
Mars Hill scored one run in the first, seven in the second and one in
the fourth to take game one, 9-0.
Chelsea Anthony (Pickens, S.C.) was 1-for-1; Hannah Mills (Richmond,
Va.), Keisha Thompson (Union, S.C.) and Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.)
were all 1-for-2. Owen picked up a stolen base, her third on the season.
Tara West (Urbana, OH) threw five innings of no-hit softball to lead
the Lions past Limestone in the nightcap. She struck out seven batters
while only walking one. Emily Wallace (Winchester, Ky.) took the loss
for the Saints, dropping to 1-3 on the season.
Mars hill scored two runs in the first, one in the second, four in the
fourth and one in the fifth to take game two, 8-0.
Limestone will travel to Salisbury, N.C., on Thursday, February 21,
to play Catawba. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
