CARSON-NEWMAN SWEEPS LIMESTONE IN SOFTBALL ACTION

GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Lady Saints softball team dropped two games to Carson-Newman on Sunday afternoon. Carson-Newman shut Limestone out in both games, picking up a 6-0 win in the first and taking the second 3-0. Limestone stands at 1-3 while Carson-Newman advances to 4-0.

Carson-Newman shut out the Lady Saints 6-0 in the first game. The Lady Eagles scored their first run in the first, had another 3 runs in the second, and scored 2 in the third.

Stephanie Templeton (Ringgold, Ga.) was credited with the win, striking out 5 batters. Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.) was credited with the loss. DeMarr is 1-1 on the season.
Carson-Newman’s center fielder, Emily Hutching (Hixson, Tenn.) was 3 for 4, with 1 homer in the second and 3 RBI’s. Jessie Kuhlman (Portage, Mich) and Whitney Hickam (Knoxville, Tenn.) had 1 RBI a piece. For Limestone, Keisha Thompson (Union, S.C.) was 2 for 3.
In the second contest, Carson Newman took the win 3-0. The Eagles scored 2 in the third on RBI’s by Hickam and Brianne Coon (Orlando, Fla.). The Eagles scored again in the fourth on an RBI by Hutchins.

Zoe Heim (Gallatin, Tenn.) was credited with the win. Limestone’s Emily Wallace (Winchester, Ky.) picked up her first loss of the season.
Limestone travels to Wingate on Saturday for a double-header at 1:00 p.m.
