GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Lady Saints softball team split its doubleheader against Brevard College on Saturday afternoon at Lady Saints Field. Limestone picked up a 3-0 win in game one, but Brevard retaliated with a 3-0 win in game two. Limestone stands at 1-1 while Brevard advances to 1-3.
In game one, both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, and runners on second and third, Limestone’s Jessica Brown (Inman, S.C.) hit a double to pick up 2 RBI’s as the Saints went up 2-0. Brown scored on an error by Brevard’s third baseman to put the Saints up 3-0. The Saints picked up three quick outs in the top of the seventh to secure the win for pitcher, Lisa DeMarr (Alpharetta, Ga.), now 1-0 on the season. Brevard’s Jennifer Gift (Durham, N.C.) was credited with the loss dropping to 0-2 on the season.
Limestone struggled in game two as the team gave up five hits and committed 3 errors. Brevard scored in the first inning on an RBI single by Kristina Clayton (Graham, N.C.). Brevard scored in the top of the fourth on an RBI single by Amber Klein (Grovetown, Ga.) to go up 2-0. The Tornadoes would take the game, scoring in the top of the seventh inning on a wild pitch. Lauren Robertson (Cincinnati, Oh.) was given the loss to drop to 0-1 in the opener. Brevard’s Aimee Rogers (Mebane, N.C.) picked up the win.
The Lady Saints host Carson-Newman tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
