SAINTS RUN PAST TROJANS, 5-0

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Limestone College Saints shutout the Mount Olive Trojans 5-0. Limestone improves 10-5-1 overall and 6-3-1 in Conference Carolinas play as Mount Olive falls to 7-12 overall and 2-8 in the league.

Joel Moran (Kinross, Scotland) put the Saints up 1-0 with only 6 minutes left in the first half off a pass from Tom Beattie (Goole, England).

Sean Boyle (Galway, Ireland) scored only moments into the second half for the 2-0 lead as Myles Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) got the assist. Moran fed the ball to Myles with 26 minutes left for Limestone's third goal of the game. Moran scored his second goal of the game in the 81st minute. Stuart Wright (Newcastle, England) brought the Saints' tally up to five 30 seconds later as Giancarlo Rodriguez (Bluffton, S.C.) got the assist.

Limestone had a 18-3 advantage on shots and a 7-1 advantage on corners.

Goalkeeper Chase Smith (South Mills, N.C.) had seven saves for Mount Olive. Limestone goalkeepers Ryan Robinson (Snellville, Ga.) and Kyle Schmaltz (York, S.C.) both played in the Saints’ seventh shutout this season.

Limestone plays in the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament on October 30. Time and opponent to be announced.
