SAINTS SHUTOUT BRAVES 6-0 |
PEMBROKE, N.C.— Limestone College shutout the UNC-Pembroke Braves 6-0 on Wednesday night in men’s soccer action. Limestone improves to 7-4-1 overall as UNC-Pembroke falls to 2-10. Six different Saints scored in the win. Limestone's Dominic Casciato (Kent, England) scored in the 4th minute as he headed the ball by the far post from Stuart Wright's (Newcastle, England) corner kick. Michael McEmerson (Glasgow, Scotland) put the Saints up 2-0 in the 23rd minute as he blasted a shot from 40 yards out. “We had a great effort by everyone tonight for the win,” said Saints Head Coach Eric Alsop. “I was really pleased with everybody’s performance. Now we need to get ready for our Senior Day game against Coker on Saturday.” Ten minutes into the second half, Tom Beattie (Goole, England) recorded another goal for the Saints after a scuffle in the box. Limestone's fourth goal was scored by Myles Jackson (Baltimore, Md.), assisted by Tom Morris (Berkshire, England) in the 82nd minute. Morris recorded his first career goal two minutes later off Andrew Sousa's deflected shot. Liam Brown (North Lanarkshire, Scotland) scored in the 87th minute for the 6-0 victory. The Saints outshot UNCP 14-11 and had 10 shots on goal compared to the host’s five. Ryan Robinson (Snellville, Ga.) had two saves in the first 55 minutes for Limestone, as Kyle Schmaltz (Goose Creek, S.C.) finished out the match for the Saints and recorded two saves. Limestone hosts Coker College in a Conference Carolinas contest on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Saints Field. Saturday is also Senior Day as the Saints recognize Giancarlo Rodriguez, Ben Modeste, Kwadwo Frempong, and Ryan Robinson. |
