LIMESTONE MEN’S SOCCER GETS 4-1 WIN AGAINST ANDERSON |
GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Limestone College men's soccer team handed Anderson University a 4-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 6-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Conference Carolinas play as Anderson falls to 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Saints had two unanswered goals in the first half. Seven minutes into the game, Stuart Wright (Newcastle, England) served the ball into the box from the left side. Ali Benson (Hull, England) got a piece of it before Michael McEmerson (Glasgow, Scotland) blasted the ball into the net for his sixth goal this season. Sean Boyle (Galway, Ireland) gave Limestone the 2-0 advantage after rebounding Tom Beattie's (Goole, England) shot. Five minutes into the second half, McEmerson passed the ball up the middle to Beattie who dribbled into the box for the Saints' third goal of the game. Jon Scott (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored Anderson's only goal with 20 minutes left in the match as Paulo Passini (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) got the assist. Myles Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) headed the ball past Anderson's goalkeeper from Wright's cross to put the Saints up 4-1n in the 80th minute. Limestone goalkeeper Ryan Robinson (Snellville, Ga.) had seven saves while Anderson's Preston Freeman (Ashland, Ky.) had four. Both teams had eight shots on goal. Anderson had a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks. Limestone travels to face UNC-Pembroke on Wednesday in Pembroke, N.C. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. |
