The Limestone College men’s soccer team was the most improved team in NCAA Division II during the 2006 season, as released by the NCAA. After finishing the 2005 season with a 2-13-3 record, the Saints posted a 13-3-6 overall record in 2006 and climbed to as high as No. 8 in the NSCAA/adidas national poll.
“This is a great end to a great year,” said Limestone Head Coach Eric Alsop. “The team is really excited about the upcoming season and we’re looking forward to building on our success from 2006.”
Limestone also won its first conference tournament championship in school history last fall, and received its first NCAA tournament berth in the history of the program. The Saints advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the national tournament before being eliminated.
