SAINTS SOCCER ADDS TWO MORE

Limestone College Head Men’s Soccer Coach Eric Alsop is pleased to announce the addition of two more student-athletes to the program. Goalkeepers JC Gypin (West Columbia, S.C.) and David Paterson (Aberdeen, Scotland) will join the 11 other players in this year’s recruiting class.

Gypin played his prep career at Brookland Cayce High School in Columbia, S.C.  He had an impressive career highlighted by making the NSCAA All-South Region Team, the SCHSSCA Class 3A All-State Team, the inaugural North Carolina vs. South Carolina All-Star Game, the SCSoccer.com Super 22 Team, the State/Neighbor's Class 3A All-Area Team, the Region 4-3A All-Region Team, and the Palmetto Cup All-Tournament Team in 2006 and 2007.  He was also named Team Defensive MVP his senior year.

Paterson comes to the Saints from the Cult Academy in Aberdeen, Scotland.  While at the academy, Paterson made the Northeast District Select Squad Under 15 squad.  He also led his team to the Aberdeen Secondary Schools League Cup Championship in 2005–06 and 2006–07.

“I’m very pleased to add these talented goalkeepers to our roster,” said Alsop.  “We will have a very impressive goalkeeper pool to choose from, and I expect the competition for the starting role to be fierce.  The level of play all of these athletes bring to the table will make it tougher on our field players during training and will push our keepers to reach their highest potential during our matches.”

Limestone is coming off its best season in school history, posting a 13-3-6 record, along with a conference tournament championship and it’s first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The team finished the season ranked second in the NCAA Southeast Region, and was ranked 19th in the final NSCAA/Adidas Division II National Ranking.  The Saints will be returning 10 of their 11 starters from last season, including four players who earned All-Conference and All-Region recognition along with the program’s first All-American.
