3 SAINTS EARN USILA ALL-AMERICAN HONORS |
Three Limestone College men’s lacrosse players earned All-American honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association for the 2007 season. Matt Pinder (Centreville, Md.) was named a First Team All-American, and is only the third Saint defender to earn First Team honors. Attackman Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.) and goalkeeper Marty Ward (Syracuse, N.Y.) garnered Honorable Mention honors. Pinder led the Saints’ defense to an 8.01 goals against average for the season, one of the best in NCAA Division II. He played in 16 games for Limestone with 14 starts at defense, and tallied six points from four goals and two assists. He recorded 26 ground balls in 2007. Pinder earned numerous accolades for his performances this season, including First Team All-Conference, Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Defensive Player of the Week, and CVAC All-Tournament Team honors. Haworth was the Saints’ leading scorer this spring as he tallied 49 goals. He also dished out 18 assists for a total of 67 points and picked up 40 ground balls. Haworth finished the season ranked top five in NCAA Division II in points and goals per game. Haworth was named CVAC Player of the Week, Second Team All-Conference, and CVAC Tournament MVP in 2007. Ward started in all 16 games for Limestone and posted an 8.17 GAA and recorded a career-high 178 saves this spring. He posted a save percentage of .599 and picked up 35 ground balls. Ward is ranked top 10 in the nation in goals against average and save percentage for the season. He was named CVAC Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions, and earned First Team All-Conference and CVAC Co-Player of the Year honors. USILA 2007 All-Americans NCAA Division II
