SAINTS LACROSSE MAKES 8TH STRAIGHT NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE ON SATURDAY

The Limestone College men’s lacrosse team will make its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II tournament on Saturday as the Saints travel to Syracuse, N.Y., to face defending national champion Le Moyne College in tournament semifinals at 1 p.m.

No. 4- ranked Limestone is anxious to return to the NCAA championship game after the No. 2 Dolphins eliminated the Saints from last year’s competition with a 22-3 win in the Final Four. Prior to 2006, Limestone advanced to the final match of the tournament every year from 2000-2005.

Limestone is 1-4 all-time against Le Moyne. The Dolphins (13-2 overall/8-2 conference) recently won their seventh straight Northeast-10 conference title on May 6.

The winner of Saturday’s game will face the winner of the No. 1 Mercyhurst/No. 3 New York Institute of Technology in the tournament championship on May 27 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., at 4:30 p.m.

Limestone, the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference regular season and tournament champions, ended the regular season with a 14-1 overall record. This is the 11th straight year the team has posted a winning record. The Saints have not had a winning percentage below .500 since 1992 when the team was 5-7 in the program’s third year of existence.
