WIMS AND VAUGHN NAMED CVAC MEN’S LACROSSE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK |
THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Limestone College men’s lacrosse players Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y., N.Y.) and Spencer Wims (Waltham, Mass.) were named Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Players of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Vaughn, the Offensive Player of the Week, led Limestone to two CVAC-wins last week to secure the regular season conference title for the Saints. He had four points in the Saints win over Lees-McRae from 2 goals and 2 assists, and had the game-winning goal as Limestone edged Pfeiffer 13-11 on Saturday. He had five goals and 3 ground balls against the Falcons. For the season, Vaughn leads the Saints with 53 points, 36 goals, and 17 assists. Wims was named Defensive Player of the Week as he helped anchor a Saints defense that posted a 6.67 GAA last week as Limestone got wins against CVAC-foes Lees-McRae and Pfeiffer. He's played in every contest for the Saints this season with 10 starts and has scooped up 13 ground balls. He also had one goal. Limestone plays Belmont Abbey in the semifinals of the CVAC tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. in Laurinburg, N.C. The 2007 CVAC tournament is hosted by St. Andrews. |
