NO. 7 LIMESTONE DEFEATS BELMONT ABBEY 13-7

GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The No. 7 Limestone men's lacrosse team defeated conference-rival Belmont Abbey 13-7 on Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone improves to 2-0 in the CVAC (5-1 overall) as the Crusaders fall to 0-3 in conference play (1-6 overall).

Limestone shut out the Crusaders 4-0 in the first quarter. Belmont Abbey had 3-2 advantage in the second. Limestone edged the visitors 2-1 in the third, and outscored the Crusaders 5-3 in the fourth for the 13-7 win.

Limestone's Teddy Prager (Seaford, N.Y.), Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.), Colin Bell (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada), and Greg Kacinko (Alpharetta, Ga.) each score two goals for Limestone. Michael Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.), Derek Franzen (Mansfield, Mass.), Ryan Collins (Black River, N.Y.), Spencer Wims (Waltham, Mass.), and Matt Pinder (Centreville, Md.) also scored.

Jay Tranello (Syracuse, N.Y.) tallied three assists for the Saints. Poerstel and Prager dished out two assists each, while Bell, Patridge, and Vaughn also recorded assists.

Saint midfielder Nick Chandler (Holbrook, N.Y.) won 10-of-17 face-offs while goalkeeper Marty Ward posted 23 saves.

Mark Kelske had 15 saves for the Abbey. Evan Young had a game-high nine ground balls.

Limestone travels to Tampa, Fla., to play Saint Leo of the Deep South Conference on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
