NO. 7 LIMESTONE GETS FIRST CVAC WIN OVER QUEENS

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The No. 7 Limestone men’s lacrosse team picked up its first Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference win of the season as the Saints defeated Queens University, 15-10, at Saints Field on Saturday afternoon. Limestone climbs to 3-0 (1-0 CVAC) as Queens drops to 1-3 overall (1-1 CVAC).

Limestone outscored Queens in every quarter except for the fourth, when the Royals had a 2-1 advantage. Limestone won 15-of-28 face-offs and had 47 groundballs compared to the visitors’ 32. The Royals had an edge on shots, 41-32.

Brock Spilker (Pasadena, Md.) had five goals for the Saints. Justin Haworth (Deer Park, N.Y.) had three goals and four assists. Allen Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.) also scored three goals, while Ryan Collins (Black River, N.Y.), Brian Patridge (Dublin, Ohio), Michael Poerstel (Annapolis, Md.) and Derek Franzen (Mansfield, Mass.) each had a goal in the win. Patridge, Matt Pinder (Centreville, Md.), Brad Stelter (Syracuse, N.Y.), Jay Tranello (Syracuse, N.Y.), and Vaughn all recorded assists.

Queens’ Louie Boyle had three goals, while Zach Jacobs and Andy Capallo each scored twice. Stephan Leblance led the Royals with two assists.

Limestone’s Marty Ward had 17 saves for the Saints, while Royals goalkeeper Tyler Rauch had nine.

Limestone travels to play Adelphi on March 10 in Arnold, Md., at Broadneck High School at 7 p.m.
