LIMESTONE SWEEPS CVAC MEN’S LACROSSE WEEKLY AWARDS

THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Limestone College junior Allen Vaughn and senior Marty Ward were named Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Players of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Both players helped the Saints to wins over Presbyterian and Mars Hill in February.

Vaughn (Skaneatdes, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week honors as he scored 15 goals and dished out five assists for 20 points in season’s first two games. He scored a game-high seven goals against Presbyterian to lead Limestone to a 20-5 win, and had eight goals, including the game-winner, against Mars Hill on Saturday night. Vaughn also has three ground balls for the season.

Marty Ward, a goalkeeper from Syracuse, N.Y., led the Saints to a 2-0 record to start the season. He recorded 12 saves for a .800 save percentage against Presbyterian, and had 13 saves at Mars Hill on Saturday to help the Saints to their second win of the year. He has a .641 save percentage for the season.

Limestone opens conference play against Queens on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C.
