LIMESTONE LOSES EXHIBITION GAME TO EAST CAROLINA, 78-60

GREENVILLE, N.C.— The Limestone College men’s basketball team dropped an exhibition game to East Carolina (NCAA Division I), 78-60, on Saturday afternoon at Minges Coliseum. Marques Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) paced the Saints with 24 points and 6 assists.

Williams was 5-for-5 in free-throws and 8-for-14 from the field. John Prioleau (Charleston, S.C.) led Limestone with seven boards. Williams and Prioleau both had three steals.

Three ECU players reached double figures. Darrell Jenkins scored 17, John Fields scored 14, and Brock Young had 11. Gabe Blair had nine rebounds. Jenkins led his team with seven assists.

The Pirates built a 14-0 lead in the first four minutes of contest, but the Saints fought back with a run to take a 16-15 lead with 11:28 left in the first half. However, ECU outscored Limestone 29-10 in the remainder of the period to hold an 18 point lead at halftime, 44-26. Both squads scored 34 points in the second half.

The Saints were 36.7% (22-60) from the field, and 64.3% (9-14) in free-throws. Limestone had 20 points from turnovers and 18 second-chance points.

The Pirates shot 45.6% (26-57) in field goals, and were 74.1% (20-27) in free-throws. ECU converted 30 points off turnovers and had 11 second chance points.

Limestone will begin the regular season against North Greenville on Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Tigerville, S.C.
