LIMESTONE NAMES BRANDON SCOTT HEAD MEN’S BASKETBALL COACH |
“I’m really excited about this opportunity,” said Scott. “I’ve got some big shoes to fill. Coach Epperly did so much for the program in the last 10 years. I’m looking forward to the future of Limestone basketball. We should have a great year in 2007-08 since we’ve got good guys back and good recruits.” “I’m also excited to be working with assistant coaches Marquintus Jones and Terrell Smith,” Scott pointed out. “Both of them know the program inside and out and will be major assets in our recruiting efforts.” Scott was a four-year letterman for Limestone from 1995-99 and returned to the College after coaching high school basketball for the last eight years. His experience as a high school coach in Florida makes him a valuable asset to Limestone’s basketball program. From 2004-06, Scott taught and coached at Leesburg High School in Leesburg, Fla. As the varsity team’s head coach, he guided the squad to an 18-8 record in 2005-06 and an appearance in the district semifinals, where the squad lost to the eventual state champion by only five points. During the 2004-05 season, Scott led the team to a first-place finish in the district and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the state tournament, while finishing the year with an impressive 19-10 record. Before becoming the head coach for Leesburg High School’s varsity squad, Scott was the head junior varsity coach and an assistant for the varsity team from 2001-04. From 2000-01, he was responsible for the freshman team at Forest High School and had bench responsibilities during varsity games. He also served as an assistant varsity basketball coach from 1999-2000 at North Henderson High School in Hendersonville, N.C. |
