GAFFNEY, S.C.—  Limestone College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Larry Epperly has announced that Erik Atkinson will play for the Saints during the upcoming 2007-08 season. Atkinson, a 6-foot-1-inch guard from West Palm Beach, Fla., is a junior transfer from Palm Beach Community College.

“Erik is a very solid player who can pass, shoot, and defend,” commented Epperly. “He brings experience to our team and we feel he will play immediately.”

During his sophomore season at Palm Beach CC, Atkinson averaged eight points and four assists per game. He played at the University of North Florida as a freshman where he appeared in 17 games for the NCAA Division I program.

Atkinson led his top-10 ranked St. Thomas More School team to a 22-8 record his senior year at prep school. He averaged 8.5 points and five assists per game as a senior. As a junior, he helped Cardinal Newman High School to a runner-up finish in the region with a 21-9 overall record. He averaged 15 points and 6.5 assists per game at Cardinal Newman.

He is the son of James and Cynthia Atkinson. He plans to study accounting and finance at the College.
