LIMESTONE INDUCTS 4 INTO HALL OF FAME

GAFFNEY, S.C.—Limestone College inducted four new members into its Hall of Fame on Saturday. Joe Monmonier, Dr. Ralph Pim, Kris Ruckelshaus, and Michael Scerbo are the newest member of the Limestone Athletics Hall of Fame.

Joe Monmonier played for the Saints lacrosse team from 1991-94. He was an Honorable Mention All-American in 1993 and 1994. He also served as Limestone’s team captain his senior season. Monmonier received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Limestone in 1994. He is currently the Head Coach for the Hilton Head High School and Youth Coach for Howard Country (MD) Recreation and Parks during the off-season. He continues to support Limestone after graduation. He has remained an active alumnus for the lacrosse program, encouraging high school prospects to play at Limestone College.

Dr. Ralph Pim was a prominent figure in the development and growth of the Limestone College athletics department. In addition to a successful tenure as the men’s basketball coach, Dr. Pim served as Associate Athletics Director where he was instrumental in the Saints joining the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference. Dr. Pim also served as chairperson of the physical education department.

Dr. Pim is currently an associate professor and director of competitive sports in the Department of Physical Education at the United State Military Academy at West Point, where he has been since 2000. He has authored six books on basketball and written numerous coaching articles. He presented at the 2005 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement and at the NCAA Division I Final Four in 2004 and 2005. Dr. Pim is a graduate of Springfield College. He earned his master’s degree from Ohio State University and his doctorate from Northwestern Louisiana State University. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and serves on the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Champions of Character national committee. At West Point, he received the BG James L. Anderson Award for excellence in teaching in 2005.

Kris Ruckelshaus was Limestone College’s Men’s Soccer Most Valuable Player in 1990 and 1991. During that time, Ruckelshaus was awarded All-District IV honors in soccer, All-Conference honors in soccer, and elected to play for the South Carolina College All-Star Team. His proudest accomplishment at Limestone College came when he was named Academic Male Athlete of the Year.

Ruckelshaus also played lacrosse for the College during the 1991 season. When the Saints’ soccer and lacrosse teams play in the Maryland area, Ruckelshaus and his family are in attendance, encouraging the Saints to give it their all. He is currently a systems director at Peroutka & Peroutka, P.A. in Maryland.

Michael Scerbo served as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Limestone College for five seasons. He was head coach of Limestone’s first team in 1996-97 and quickly developed the program into a national contender. His squad was ranked in the NCAA Division II top 10 from 1998-2001, while producing numerous All-Americans and several Deep South District Team and North-South Senior All-Star Team members. Scerbo posted a 33-24 record at Limestone College, including a 10-1 mark-good for a No. 2 national ranking- in his final season in 2001.

Scerbo received his bachelor’s degree in biology in 1995 from SUNY-Oswego. He was the assistant women’s lacrosse coach at his alma mater in 1995-96. He played three years of college lacrosse at Division I SUNY-Stony Brook as an attackman and concluded his playing career at Oswego in 1995. His is in his second season as Duquesne University’s women’s lacrosse coach after serving as an assistant coach at Ohio State from 2002 to 2005 where he helped guide the Buckeyes to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances (2002 and 2003) and one American Lacrosse Conference title (2003).

Limestone College President Dr. Walt Griffin also presented Larry Epperly with a painting of the Curtis Building in appreciation for Epperly's 10 years of service to the College. Epperly recently accepted a position at East Carolina University.

The Limestone College Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals whose athletic achievements or services have enriched the Saints athletic programs or brought fame to the College. It recognizes and provides an enduring memorial for those persons who have made lasting and significant contributions to the cause of sports at Limestone College.
